About Us

Senjabi Basenjis is based in Temuka, South Canterbury. We have also lived in Gisborne, Christchurch and Rangiora.

I have been involved in the breed since I purchased my first Basenji (Oskar) in 1997. Since then I have imported 2 bitches and 2 dogs from Australia, bred six litters and set up the Basenji Rehome/Rescue Service. I have been involved in the re-homing, fostering and dog-sitting of several Basenjis since my introduction to the breed.

Our Basenjis are our "kids" first and foremost. They are at their best when they are lazing about the property in the sunshine, doing the Basenji-500 through the house, or snuggled up on the couch or in front of the fire. They have all been show dogs at some stage.

We raise our dogs (and cats) on a mostly raw/natural diet. I encourage our puppy buyers to do the same, however I realise it isn't everyone's cup of tea.
